Magic Point Dive

Today my wife Helena and I did the Magic Point shark dive in Sydney. This dive site is located just south of Maroubra Beach and is home to a colony of up to 20 Grey Nurse Sharks at any one time. The sharks here range from 2 to 4 meters in length but are usually very placid sharks and of no reak threat to humans, though they do really look the part and have several rows of large teeth on display. Unfortunately for us the visibilty was pretty bad today, only around 5-8 meters so I didn’t manage to bag a classic shot of these sharks, but I will be trying again shortly. We did see loads of Port Jackson sharks too and a giant cuttlefish. All shots were taken on a 16mm Nikon lens & a Fuji s2 Pro DSLR camera in a Aquatica Dive housing and 2 Inon Z220 strobes for lighting. Thanks to the team at Abyss Diving for a great day.

Strobe & housing test shoot

Merry Christmas..I was testing my underwater housing and strobes in my mates pool today before Christmas dinner. I’ve not used this housing for a year or so, so I gave it a quick test before taking it diving again.
