I Had a week up the Coast this week with me old man and his lady. The first few days the surf and weather was bad but today it finally broke and we got some sunshine and a little spike in the swell. The Pass at Byron was the best option for shooting with Dave “Rasta” rastovich and Antony Walsh in the lineup so I shot from the beach with the 600mm lens to start with before going for a swim with the water housing. Typically the lineup at The Pass was rammed with every type of water craft going and the sweep current was very unforgiving, it helps to burn off the beer calories!!!

Beautiful light and clean, fun surfing conditions today at The Park so I went for a swim with my new fisheye lens for a bit of experimentation with camera settings etc. I managed to snag a couple of shots I was kinda happy with - and here they are. The random guy from Cronulla that was chatting to me (sorry didn’t get your name) - yes this shot is you!!

I broke out the 600mm lens for an airing today, it’s been a while since I’ve shot with it and as there were a few small waves around what the hell. This is a shot of Bret Walkers 5′3″ getget fish which lasted about 2 minutes in the water today. Thats what you getget for no stringer!!

I went into the big smoke today - Sydney - just for a walk around to get a few shots as I wanted to try a photographic technique call HDR - High Dynamic Range. It’s basically merging several images taken on different exposures to achieve as much detail in the shot as possiblewithout burnt out highlights or overly dark shadow areas. These pics are my first attempt.
